Big Trip Day 112 – Matala

Beach life continues apace. There is no end to the entertainment possibilities offered by this beautiful bay. I am writing today because this is when I wrote the entry in my travelogue, but the event was last night.

We saw a Greek movie projected onto an outside wall. The story involved a girl caught underwater in a net. The soundtrack included extracts from Pink Floyd’s Atom Heart Mother (I saw one of the the first pre-release live performances of this at a free concert in Hyde Park in July 1970), but maybe something from The Wall would have been more apposite (except, of course, it had not come into existence at this time). It was strange to hear this music in a small Cretan village, but it was suitably effective and atmospheric.

Film ended with girl dying and hero walking into the sunset.

Virtual bonus points for anyone who can identify the film – I certainly do not know what it was. Could have been a film dubbed into Greek.

Another little post to look forward to tomorrow!
