Big Trip Day 39 – Fethiye Again

My only entry in the travelogue today (apart from mentioning the outdoor film show of last night),,,

Quite a nice little town!

I think that was an accurate description for the time. I imagine that the town has been developed a lot since 1973. It is part of the Turkish Riviera and within easy reach of Dalaman airport. Dalaman airport did not exist in 1973. I think I revisited Fethiye maybe 12 or 13 years ago and found it unrecognisable. I remember on my last visit I saw a large marina that was not there before. A security guard stopped me photographing the yachts and boats moored there, bobbing gently in the water – but not before I had taken a good few photos.

Tomorrow will be slightly more eventful. I get back out on the road and reach a new destination, having been all Fethiyed out. A clue you ask? Well, my trusty source of Wikipedia offers scant information about the town in which I lay my head on Day 40. It is in the Mugla region of Turkey, on the way to Kusadasi, and an area of beautiful nature. The original town dates from medieval times.

If you find it, I’ll catch you there tomorrow,
